The video doesn't play very well for me - it stops every sentence to download more. If possible it would be good if it could be downloaded upfront rather than streamed so I can watch it off the web.
I think I prefer reading late at night in a quiet house :)

@ Amy

Hi. Are you referring to Video Modeling as a therapy tool or our <a href="http://www.connecttherapy.com/shop/products/Complete-Training-Program.html" rel="nofollow">Parent Training DVDs</a>?
Neither are intended to be delivery models on their own but tools/techniques that can be used in conjunction with an appropriate treatment approach. Such training devices and techniques are used with the aim of enhancing the effectiveness of any therapy already being carried out. Having said that, our training resources are very helpful as stand alone training tools (not therapy) that families can use independently of any particular delivery model to increase their knowledge of the individual difference of their unique child.

Hi, i found with my 4 year old autistic boy it seemed maximum stimulation or exposure to everything helped him. ie a ritual of a movie every meal, he'd want to watch and guess what he'd eat, but also he was exposed to talking, activities, play, colours etc etc ie watching the cartoon tinkerbell, barnyard etc.
get him to help set up the meal, he had input into his food.
I beleive in vitamimins and give him a vitamin c and a multivitamin everyday.
he's been receiving speech therapy since he was 2 and occ therapy with noah's ark since he was 2.
i worked with my son everynight with flashcards, games, counting also riding his bike.
he also had endoure his mother and my marriage breakdown, wich was drawn out. i now have full custody of him and my other 3 childen.
now he is 4 and a half and is doing amazingly. i'd say his main issue is a speech deficiency, but his speech and comprehension is coming along quite well.
to sum it up, i know he will go to mainstream school and do well.
what can i say, but maximum exposure to everything, ie daycare, kinder, speech path, occ path, videos, book, toys etc
good luck all

Hi Monica,

I'm a new grad Speechie. The concept of this blog is fantastic. However, I'm not sold on the idea of using DVD for therapy?? What external evidence are you using to support this service delivery model?

Thanks, Amy.

my son therapy team working collaboratively. he had an O.T but no speech pathology because we don't have any speech pat in our place. So we get a Sped Teacher who can handle my son. I wish i can get a Home program for my son. But they talk every time and and share what to do. I wish we can have speech pat here. thanks monique for you moral support.
