my son therapy team working collaboratively. he had an O.T but no speech pathology because we don't have any speech pat in our place. So we get a Sped Teacher who can handle my son. I wish i can get a Home program for my son. But they talk every time and and share what to do. I wish we can have speech pat here. thanks monique for you moral support.

If you kindly let us know that you have any facility where we can visit and take my daughter, so that she learn how to communicate.

I have been looking for a nice product to help me sleep too. Melatonin has bad side effects. I read about Calms Forte 4 Kids. That link goes to a review. You think its as good as they say?

Thanks so much Monique.

I think the ‘penny really dropped’ for me reading this!

We’re constantly trying to make sense of all of our son’s various behaviours, and treating some of them has been a real struggle.

No one in the 2 years that we’ve been doing therapy has ever put it all clearly into perspective like this.

The pyramid model really makes a lot of sense for us, that there are all these other things going on under the surface that we need to understand about our son first.

I think this really will change the way we think about his treatment going forward. So thank you!

I also agree that it can make a huge difference when parents try to learn as much as they can about their child. This is something my husband and I have tried to do ever since our son’s diagnosis and it has certainly helped a lot and we feel much more able to help him.

thanks again

@ Toy Stores. I'm not exactly sure what you mean. In my experience what I have suggested in this post has never been the cause of any problems for families.

At the core of all of my therapy work with families we explore the root causes of the child's autism. In this article I am addressing just one very small part of the families overall treatment plan.

I'd like to know what you mean if you would care to reply.

I understand why she some feel that autism is a gift, but I doubt they felt that way growing up, and I doubt that all of the parents who have autistic children at the other of the spectrum feel that way. It's a gift only when one makes it into one. A good lesson that to learn is not to be so hasty to give up on a child at such a young age. It seems like doctors categorize autistic children very young, and that sets the tone for the rest of their lives. As far as we've come, there is still much that medical science does not understand and cannot explain about autistic children, or many other things for that matter.

It sounds like you're creating problems yourself by trying to solve this issue instead of looking at why their is a problem in the first place
