Using Fahcsia Funding

Connect Therapy is an approved autism service provider under the “Helping Children With Autism” package initiated by the Australian government in 2008 to provide financial assistance to families with a child with autism.

Using Your Funding for Resources

Many families are not aware that they are able to spend up to $2,000 of their funding each year on eligible resources that they feel will assist in the treatment of their child. This includes training DVDs, online learning programs and therapy equipment. Books and some other resources have not been made eligible.

The Autism Essentials DVD Training Program qualifies as a resource that families may purchase using their funding.

There are currently two ways to purchase the program using your Fahcsia funding.

1. If Connect Therapy is one of your approved service providers you can order the program directly from us via our website. For Connect Therapy to be one of your approved service providers we would need to see you for at least one face to face therapy session. As we provide an in-home service, this may be possible if you live within 30km of the Sydney CDB or are prepared to travel to Leichhardt in Sydney’s Inner West… otherwise option two is probably better.

2. If Connect Therapy is not one of your approved service providers you can still purchase the program with your funding. This needs to be arranged through your current Fahcsia therapist or provider. Your provider will need to incorporate any resources into your child’s treatment plan in order for them to be considered an eligible resource under the funding. But most providers are happy to do this to help their clients get all the help they can and to fully maximise their funding. Simply ask your provider to contact us about ordering the program on your behalf.
