Is the Program right for me?
My child already receives speech and/or occupational therapy. Can this program still help? How is it different?

This Autism Essentials DVD program focuses on parent training and empowerment and how therapy can be carried out practically on a day-to-day basis in the home.
Unfortunately due to time constraints therapists are often not able to spend the time really increasing parents knowledge or showing them what they can practically do each day in and around the home. In addition, therapy is also often carried out in a clinic setting which is very different to the home.
Many families have reported that doing the Autism Essentials DVD program has helped to make therapy time in the clinic more effective because the parents feel more confident to proactively suggest areas that they would like their child to target in therapy. The skills gained through the Autism Essentials DVD program will also help you to more actively contribute to the goals and therapy activities of your child’s current therapy program. Many ABA parents have also used the Autism Essentials DVDs to help train the ABA therapists that join their child’s team.

My child has not yet been diagnosed with autism, but there is a chance they may be. Is the program suitable for us?

The sooner you receive a diagnosis (whatever that might be), the sooner you can begin to seek out the most relevant treatments for your child. If your child receives a diagnosis of autism, even if it is only a mild diagnosis such as ‘Autistic tendencies’, the Autism Essentials Training Program would be an invaluable starting point for you.
However you would be best to wait for an official diagnosis before purchasing the program so you can start the program knowing what you are dealing with. You need to be committed and focused when commencing the program.
TIP: It is very important to begin treatment for autism as soon as possible after it has been diagnosed. If you are on a long waiting list (more than 1 month) to see a ‘public’ paediatrician then if possible I would highly recommend that you try to see a private developmental paediatrician as soon as possible. There may be an additional cost involved, but please do not put it off because of this. The benefits of starting treatment sooner rather than later far outweigh any short term losses.

It does not matter whether your child has low or high functioning autism you will still need to help your child with the core issues of sensory processing, emotional development, thought processing in order to help your child learn in the most effective way possible.
Just because your child may be considered to be ‘high functioning’ it is still very important to go back and treat those underlying challenges that your child is experiencing, otherwise these problem areas will continue to interfere with their future learning to an even greater extent. Even if your child is high functioning they still require this assistance to help them reach their full potential.

So if your comprehension of English is fairly good then you should have no problem. Remember also that you can rewind the DVD's as many times as necessary to be able to grasp the concepts. But ultimately you will need to make this decision.
Will the DVDs work in my DVD player even though they come from Australia?
